"Swap-squares" - Part 1

... we have fun at QuiltSkandinavia

  1. Stack the squares up and, using stickers or paper and pins, write a number in the upper left hand corner of each, numbering them from 1 to 4. Number 1 is on top with number 4 at the bottom.
  2. Bring your stack to the cutting mat, place your rule as shown in the figure and make a cut through the stack.
  3. From the numbered stack of pieces, take the bottom piece and bring it to the top of that same stack.
  4. Sew the two top pieces together, then the next two, until they all four are sewn together. If the pieces don't mach perfectly, that's ok.
  5. Press and restack with the numbers in the same corner, and with number 1 at the top and number 4 at the bottom of the stack.
  6. For the second cut, place your ruler as shown in the figure and cut through the stack.
  7. From the numbered stack of pieces, take two pieces from the bottom (number 3 and 4) and bring them to the top of that same stack.
  8. Sew in pairs again.
  9. Press and restack again with the numbers in the same corner, and with number 1 at the top and number 4 at the bottom of the stack. Put the blocks away.
  10. Do the same two more times with 4 blue squares each time, and then wait for the next clue.
